Welcome to the SAAFoST 2015 Congress Website
Dear Food Science Professional,
The South African Association for Food Science & Technology (SAAFoST) will be holding its 21st Biennial International Congress and Exhibition from 6-9 September 2015 at the Southern Sun Elangeni & Maharani Beachfront Hotels in Durban, KZN
The Theme - "Growing Food Science & Technology for a Sustainable Future" - is pertinent in today's global food industry environment, wherein the industry is facing challenges around health, obesity & resource sustainability.
The venue - the subtropical paradise of Durban, with beautiful beaches and numerous local sport & food attractions, should provide an excellent backdrop to lively debate, excellent network opportunities, and meeting up with good friends.
The Congress aims to draw 500 delegates and will consist of a series of sessions - highlighting local, regional & invited international speakers - combined with a trade exhibition, plenary sessions, interactive poster displays, and will be followed with a 1-day post congress workshop on Food Science & Nutrition.
A Post-Congress One-Day Workshop is to be held on 10 September 2015 by ILSI SOUTH AFRICA on Food Innovation / Renovation: Enabling Sustainable Future Health with the aim of addressing non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and related risk factors. ILSI-SA will be offering a range of talks and a panel discussion delivered by international and national experts with the purpose of elucidating the possibilities that science can offer in the food innovation and renovation process, whilst understanding the needs and expectations of all stakeholders in relation to NCDs - never before seen in South Africa! The workshop also seeks to highlight the vital synergy between food science and nutrition. Registration rates are extremely reasonable for this jam-packed workshop - indeed, a MUST attend for all stakeholders. Click here for more information on the workshop.
We invite you to participate in Congress 2015, as your contribution to the development of food science in South Africa is recognised, and your participation & support will ensure an enjoyable & informative experience.
